System Overview
Our main site, repeaters, and controllers are located on the Palisades in Orangetown, south of the Tappan Zee Bridge at 625 feet above sea level. The Rockland Repeater System features the following repeaters:
1. A two meter repeater on 147.165 MHz - WB2RRA/R Input 600 Khz above on 147.765 MHz.
Requires 114.8 Hz PL to prevent interference from repeaters on the same frequency in Philadelphia, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. This can be turned off by control operator command, or automatically for Tuesday evening nets.
An S-Com 7K controller which contains all of the logic associated with repeater timing, IDing, speech, autodialing, the user and emergency autopatches, security, time of day clock, and selectable courtesy beeps.
An LDG Electronics voter which dynamically retransmits only the signal which is being best received. Each channel can be disabled remotely if necessary because of receiver failure or interference. Receivers are presently in place at Nyack and in mid-Rockland County.
• There are two selectable transmitters at the Nyack location. The higher power transmitter is a Quintron / Glenayre running 250 watts output. The lower power transmitter is a Motorola MSF5000 running 125 watts output.
The controller, voter and Micor repeater are backed up by batteries. A 30-kilowatt auto start generator backs up the entire site.
Repeater is available until 12:30 am and can be "woken-up" by user command.
Useful repeater coverage for handi-talkies is Rockland County to the East and South of Harriman Park, Bergen County, Eastern Orange County, and Western Westchester County. Higher power and better antennas provide a 75-mile radius coverage from mid-Rockland.
